Toca's Miracle the Makoom Bootleg
This month, I have another free bootleg to share with you and its a track that’s special to me. I first heard Toca’s Miracle in a recording of Hardwell’s 2012 Sensation White Set in Amsterdam. I was immediately hooked by this track and it helped drive my increasing love of dance music that had begun in 2008. Once I started DJ-ing, I used it to make a lot of mashups including one I still play with Armin van Buuren & Above & Beyond’s track - ‘Show Me Love.’ In my recreation of this iconic track, I created a great groovy beats section followed by a vocal centric breakdown and then a Trance filled main drop! I hope you enjoy my version and head to the link below to download your own copy, free.

Out October 11th
But Wait, More Music!
I know that there’s a free bootleg this month but I have some exciting news! Out November 1st on Blue Soho’s more fast paced and tech infused imprint Soho Black is my collaboration with Ambience - ‘By Your Side.’ Keep your eyes peeled to pre-save it wherever you get your music and listen to this dance floor destroying track soon!
Tip of the Month: Reverb Whips
Do you want a way to make your original productions and mashups more special while teasing different parts and creating your own uplifters? Use Reverse Reverbs or Reverb Whips as I like to call them. I tend to create them using my lead bus, with vocals, or instruments. To make one do this:
Loop the first 1/16 note of the instrument/bus in question
Put a 100% mix reverb plugin on the processing chain
Listen to your new long tail reverb
Bounce your new sound with the effect tail and including all processing chain (Pro tip, I purposefully raise the volume on the channel to make it easier to mix the new sample)
Input your new sample in a audio track in your eFX bus
Reverse the sample and line it up that way the last 1/16 note layers onto the first 1/16 note of the sound and then remove that extra 1/16 note (you don’t want it in the mix)
Process your new riser/reverse reverb to taste
Sometimes, I’ll purposefully pull it 1/16 note to the left to make a gap and build anticipation
Enjoy!
Photo of the Month
My wife and I had the fortune to visit Europe for our Honeymoon after our marriage earlier this year. I had never spent a lot of time on the continent but was inspired by the beauty of many of the different places we saw. We knew we would go to Amsterdam, Rotterdam (for ASOT), and Brussels but ended up in Bruges due to the recommendations of three unrelated people. It was a happy accident that was one of the highlights of our trip. It’s a beautiful city and worth the visit if you ever get a chance!
