1. Something ‘Like That’

This month a track that spent over a year in the oven releases. I premiered an early version of ‘Like That’ during my New Year’s Eve set 2024-25. It was a hit with the crowd and I knew I had a great idea. Sometimes ideas take a while to come to fruition and this was one of them. It took me a while to get truly happy with the song, but now I have a hard hitting dancefloor trance record that Nahwand Recordings signed! Coming everywhere on May 18th, you can see what all the fuss is about.

2. Hypnotize

Hypnotize has taken many of you with its mesmerizing beats, melodies, and lyrics. We love this track and really appreciate everyone’s support! Andrew Rayel has supported it during his Find Your Harmony radio show and many other DJs are playing it all across the world. Rose Hall and I are already back in the studio working on another track to show off our creative flair.

On May 30th, you can catch me playing a trance set with some other Austin DJs at Botanic Bliss Lounge. Its a neat local spot and I have spent some time in the studio and may test out what I’ve worked on. I hope to see you there!

Makoom’s Menagerie

I’m already working on my latest episode of Makoom’s Menagerie and this month I feel like I’m going to include at least one of my latest Makoom Mashups.

3. Noise Layers in Leads

Sometimes, its difficult to get the noise layer in a lead stack just right. I have found that the best thing you can do is make the noise layer it’s own channel. Instead of having it as part of one of my leads in Serum 2 or another plugin, I will put an instance of Serum 2 that plays sound exclusively. It gives me a lot more creative control over the sound layer’s interaction with other parts of the lead stack and it’s an easy way to elevate your leads. Look at this screenshot of Serum 2. This lets me customize how the sound works with my other leads. I can use a different filter than the leads or change the ADSR. It’s given me more ways to differentiate my sound.

4. Photo of the Month

Seeing everyone come out for the Hypnotize Release Party was moving. We brought together a community vibe in downtown Austin that matched some of the best clubs shows I’ve gone to. The club was packed with longtime fans of mine and tons of new ones too. There was even a dual bachelor/bachelorette party that stayed the entire evening with us and became new Makoom diehards. This is exactly why I make music and I feel like the community we’re building is special. I hope to catch up with each of y’all at a Makoom show soon and don’t worry, there are more coming.
