Live Shows & a New Release

Makoom's Menagerie

Now that I’m back in the United States, I’m excited to say that live shows are beginning to pick up. I’ve already played twice and the reactions to a lot of my new tracks are exceptionally positive. Several of these are coming soon and one is coming Friday, December 20th. My bootleg of Zack Martino’s track ‘Kill My Heart’ is a techno infused trance track that uses the beautiful vocal to start a party on the dance floor. If you get a chance to see me live, I've made a special intro edit of my bootleg that I’m using in all of my sets. The club version of the mix is coming for free on Friday, December 20th, just in time for the holidays and any DJs who are looking for a secret weapon during their New Year’s sets. Keep an eye on my socials about where you can find me to hear the latest Makoom IDs.

Kill My Heart (Makoom Bootleg) Out December 21st!

Listen to By Your Side Today!

My collaboration, ‘By Your Side’ with Ambience on Dark Soho is still going strong. It got featured on quite a few Spotify official playlists and some curated ones as well. I love playing this track in the back parts of my sets and if you like techno and trance, check it out!

Tip of the Month: Keep it Simple

I was working with one of my mentors and he had some poignant advice that I think will help every producer out there. He stressed keeping it simple. A lot of the best producers in the world purposefully limit how many plugins they use while producing to avoid clashing harmonics, over produced sounds, and muddy mixes. Focus on choosing the right samples, patches for your synths, and sounds to stay true to your style and keep your workflow in check. I know this sounds like cheap words, but after I started following his advice, I really noticed that my mixes began sounding cleaner and more polished. I even used a phrase he enjoyed that I want to share with you. ‘Use fewer sounds, more intelligently.’ Make sure when you put something into your song it has a purpose and builds the overall piece of art that you’re making. Don’t feel like you need to put something into your production just because you saw someone else do it. Make your music your own! I hope this helps and if you want to talk about it more, just reply to my inbox.

Photo of the Month

I got a chance to get with one of my all-time favorite photographers, Bryan Portray (@bryan_portray), to do some new headshots to elevate the Makoom brand. He’s an amazing person and really stands for the culture that my music is about through his work helping those around him and promoting positive relationships. Check out this awesome shot he took during one of my performances and I can’t wait to share the new photographs soon!
