June 2026

Welcome to the June 2026 edition of my newsletter. It's my birthday this month and I have quite a few treats in store for everyone!

1. Dancing

As we approach my birthday, I am excited to say that my latest track, ‘Dancing,’ has arrived everywhere on Reverie XO. This track is a driving dance floor focused record inspired by my love for a sacred space. The community of the dance floor has helped me through the toughest moments of my life and I know it means the same thing to anyone else who has ever called it home. In a digital age where capturing a moment is sometimes the most important thing, I believe that we could all use a little more dancing. Forget about making videos and make memories with your friends. Dancing is the song for you all.

2. New Tutoring News

ReOrder is expanding his private lessons through readyformasterclass.com and he asked me to join the team as a Logic Pro expert. I am honored that he trusts me to uphold his high standards of tutoring and am really excited to begin this new chapter in my musical journey. The only reason I have gotten to the point that touring DJs are supporting my music is through the strength of my community and commitment of my mentors. If you are interested in expanding your production capabilities to make tracks like you hear on the radio, I would love to join you on that journey. I tell all of my students that my goal is to educate them well enough that they don’t need me anymore. That is the mark of a true teacher!

It’s my birthday this month and I am doing a special episode of Makoom’s Menagerie to celebrate. I can’t wait for y’all to hear what I’m cooking up.

3. Clipping

Clipping is a great tool to use to get more loudness out of certain parts of your mix. I use SIR Audio’s Standard Clip Pro for all my clipping needs. Essentially, clipping allows you to put a hard or soft limit on a channel to prevent audio from exceeding a certain threshold. This is perfect for sounds that have large peaks between the average amount of audio and the transient. Whenever a sound passes the clip, it is limited to prevent the volume exceeding the imposed limit. Now, you can push the channel volume louder to bring the full volume of the sound more into focus without the transient becoming overly harsh. I use this on plucks, kicks (sometimes), and percussion to tame outlying sounds and bring everything into a better focus. It’s a great tool to have in your arsenal because it helps you push the volume on your mix without making it harsh on the ears.

If you have any questions or would like to have a DJ or production lesson with me in person, please reach out!

4. Photo of the Month

This past weekend, I went to Hamilton Pool just outside Austin, Texas with my family. I visited this beautiful space many times as a child and young adult. It was fun to come back here with my daughter and let her see a spot that provided me with many great memories. It is important for me to visit the natural world and whenever I go, I find myself more inspired to write music when I return home. If you ever find yourself a little lost, go and lose yourself in nature, I guarantee it will provide you some relief.
